Jessica Benjamin elaborated the theme of recognition in psychoanalysis: her thought is one of the central landmarks of contemporary psychoanalysis. She has been a leading figure in the intersection of psychoanalysis and feminism. She serves on the steering committee and is a teaching analyst in the New York University Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. In 2001 he received the Distinguished Scientific Award from the Division of Psychoanalysis (39) of the American Psychological Association. He is on the Editorial Board of Psychoanalytic Dialogues. She is on the editorial board of Studies in Gender and Sexuality. She was a founding member of the IARPP International Association for Relational Psychoanalysis & Psychotherapy. She has published many books and articles including: Bonds of Love (1988) [Love Bonds] Like Subjects, Love Objects (1995) [Love Subjects], Shadow of the Other (1997) [The Shadow of the Other], Beyond Doer and Done To (2018). He lives and works in New York City.
